Motorized Slab Lifting Tongs

The electromotive slab tong is used for hoisting hot-rolled (or continuous cast) slabs and mainly consists of an upper lifting beam, lower connecting beam, electric opening and closing reel device, and clamps. There are two sets of four clamping points, with the opening of the clamp controlled by a motor.


By optimizing the lever ratio of the crane lifting tong arms, sufficient clamping force is achieved. This electric slab tong features a simple structure and is a more traditional lifting device form, with relatively low manufacturing and maintenance costs. The tongs overhead crane uses a double-hook configuration and must be equipped with a cable reel.

The purpose of scissor lifting tongs is to lift and automatically rotate slabs.

The slab tong with slewing gear uses a secondary lever mechanism, which offers a simple structure, flexible operation, and safe, reliable hoisting. The scissor clamp lifter with opening and closing actions is automatically performed without any external force.

This scissor lifting clamp is suitable for single-hook overhead crane lifting and can also be specially designed according to customer requirements.

Usage Instructions

  • Lifting operations should be conducted by qualified personnel with appropriate suspension operation certifications.
  • Select clamps that are consistent with the intended use.
  • Use within the allowable load range and avoid overload.
  • Ensure usage within the permissible slab thickness range.
  • Do not enter the lifting operation area or overturning zone.
  • Avoid striking or impacting the load or lifting device.
  • Do not make sudden movements or abrupt stops with the load.
  • Prevent the load from becoming unbalanced. For safety, it is better to use two or more clamps.
  • Inspect before use for any abnormal conditions, such as issues with the clamp heads, spacers, blockages between teeth, or wear. Only use the device after a thorough inspection.

  • Proper use, regular inspections, and reasonable maintenance are essential to ensure the normal, safe operation of the hook assembly and extend its service life.
  • Regularly check the welds of the metal structure. If any cracks are found, stop use and perform re-welding.
  • To prevent corrosion of the metal structure, regular painting and corrosion protection are necessary.
  • Periodically check the bolts connecting various components for looseness.
  • To prevent corrosion of parts, regularly clean dirt and debris from the exterior of the hook assembly.
  • Regularly inspect and lubricate the pins and bearings.
